A Little About us

Bonjour!  I'm Claudia Strasser,  owner and founder of The Paris Apartment. I'm thrilled to be celebrating our 25th year in business and want to thank YOU for making it possible. Many of you have been loyal friends and clients over the years and we've all come a long way since the boutique first opened in New York's East Village in 1993. Some remember the store's stark contrast to the grungy neighborhood where pretty French boudoir furniture, antiques and flea market finds spilled onto the sidewalk. Repairing and restoring the treasures cast aside, I discovered the joy of working with my hands AND my head. I also found a passion for history and the magic in what can be uncovered both archaeologically and anthropologically at flea markets all over the world.

The store inspired a book, and 'The Paris Apartment, Romantic Decor on a Flea Market Budget' a playful guide to creating your own unique world based on your travels, passions and personal style. Finding that special sauce that makes your look special is what we're all about. 'Paris Flea Market Style' includes tips, history and pics of my favorite flea markets in Paris.

The iPhone app, 'Keys to the Fleas, Paris' helps visitors navigate the ins and outs of the city's complex flea markets with train routes, hours and maps.

Over the years TPA has grown and changed in various ways. The aim has always been to offer products that will become heirlooms. Now it's time for another change. I'm closing the online boutique and focusing on you and your business. My expertise shopping and sourcing the markets of France has taken a lifetime to master. Now I want to share my knowledge with those who sell, create and collect; those who appreciate linens, art, and the history that's alive and thriving at the markets. If you're passionate about flea marketing, contact me to schedule a private shopping tour. If you'd  just like to chat, that's fine too!
